Some people are not content to spend their holiday in just one place. If you want to see more of the surrounding countryside, hiring a car is the ideal solution.
The Tourist Office has a great deal of information on interesting places to visit, or look at “Suggested Trips” in this copy of the Salou Scene.

Firstly, to hire a car, you must be 21 or over with a full driving licence from your country of residence. Shop around to get a few prices before you decide and make sure that the price includes everything, with no hidden extras. Ask for a map from the hire shop, preferably with the petrol stations marked on it. Some car hire places charge for petrol already in the car (which will be refunded to you if it is returned with the same amount) any petrol used will be deducted, whereas, others give vehicles that will only get you as far as the nearest petrol station. Ask when hiring, what petrol to use.
Take it slowly at first, especially if it is your first time driving on “the wrong side of the road” you will soon get used to it, but never lose your concentration. Speed limits are clearly marked on the side of the road in kilometres, (80 kilometres = 50 miles). Police are very strict on speeding and itīs not unusual to get an on the spot fine. Also, the drink driving limit here is much less than in Britain, the beer is stronger and after only a pint or two, you will probably be way over the limit. Donīt do it.
All in all, if you stick to the rules, hiring a car will give you the freedom to sight see at your own pace.
